RON WILLIAMS - Ron first started racing R.C. Boats in 1976 + participated in the National Championships in Texas. Then he got started racing 1/8 scale gas On-road, joining the Rams R.C. club in San Jose. He went to numerous "McCoy" 1/8 scale gas On road championships at the Ranch Pit Stop in Pomona.

Then he got his first "electric" 4 wheel drive car in 1985 being sponsored by Bee Gee Hobbies in Concord . He started racing Off-road at the old Pleasant Hill Bowling Alley track run by the "Dirt Burners" club. This is where I first raced Ron - (I had the first M.I.P. 4 wheel drive car in the Bay Area -- cable driven-Fast - but sucked up batteries!!) From there he started racing Off road at the old Antioch Airport raceway run by the late Jack Hanson. Jack did manage to get the first R.O.A.R. National event ever in Nor. Cal. Ron then became the first Team Losi sponsored driver in Nor. Calif. The first to receive the -- JRX2 car !

Ron also raced 10th scale gas Off road and gas 10th scale Sedans for a few years before taking a break and started flying Gliders and gas Airplanes at the Pittsburgh Club. Then Ron became interested in Helicopters and started flying them in Concord at the Bates Ave. + Port Chicago Hwy. spot on Sundays. Then in Dec. 08 I took him out to the Kit + Caboodle Hobbies oval track in Oakley to check it out + the next thing I know we are both racing again + having FUN !!!!

DAVE KRIDER - My brother stopped by one day in late 1981 and told me "you need to come watch these radio controlled cars in Pinole." I watched for 5 minutes and I knew I had to get one! I bought my first car at Bee Gee Hobbies in Concord - it was a Tamiya "Rough Rider" - They needed lots of help to run and finish a race. I started doing good right away + the next thing I knew I was interviewed in 1984 by the County Times newspaper and wound up on the front page w/ all my cars. Back then I was racing at Pinole, Track Out Back in Vallejo + Pleasant Hill Dirt Burners Club at the old Bowling Alley.

During those days I heard about the first World Championships coming up in Del Mar (near San Diego) Me + John Parker ended up driving down there to try to enter - but they said we had not qualified at the needed events - so we just watched as Jammin Jay won 2 Wheel and Gil Losi Jr. won 4 Wheel. I bought some of the trick parts they had and started designing my own type of cars w/ parts from Cox Scorpion, M.I.P. Transmission, Tamiya and my own graphite chassis designs.

In 1984 I decided I was having so much fun at racing that I opened up the first "In-door" Off-road raceway in Calif. It was in San Pablo. It was a real small track- but had lots of jumps and was well know for being able to drive up the walls and back down. In 1984 my track was featured on the Channel 7 6 o’clock news.
